So you can figure how ever many people can normally eat from a 13x9 cake can be fed with this cake.

It also depends on how you cut it and what sizes the pieces are. We fed about 13-15 people and had some leftovers.Trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04782835272188778110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7699152802076206942.post-12973896716724758622015-01-11T08:53:53.614-07:002015-01-11T08:53:53.614-07:00Hi came across this on the internet when searching...Hi came across this on the internet when searching for ideas for a guitar cake. your instructions look amazing and I am going to have a go. That makes for a LOT of extra cake scrap for the neck (which I believe was also cut out horizontally) and the head.Trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04782835272188778110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7699152802076206942.post-61144266453477206612013-10-22T22:08:41.682-06:002013-10-22T22:08:41.682-06:00The body is the size of an 8x11 sheet of paper. HOwever, I thought the highlight of the day is going out for the day.... anyway, I realised that if I didnt get anything "special" for him, he will talk about it for at least the next 40 years. So desparate time, desparate measure, I made my first icing cake !!! Thanks so much for your tips. Though the quality of my cake is far from yours, I had chosen yours as the best on internet and made something not too similar to yours. Make sure all the air is squeezed out of the bag. When you're working on the cake itself, only have out the fondant you are working with to put on the cake. Keep the rest sealed. That will help to keep it from drying out.Trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04782835272188778110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7699152802076206942.post-77061264390242443112012-03-12T13:50:57.431-06:002012-03-12T13:50:57.431-06:00I did everything you said but still didn't wor...I did everything you said but still didn't work.. :( I'll just make another one... Try placing it in the microwave for about 10 seconds then kneading it. If it is still too dry, you can always add a small (and I mean SMALL) amount of water to it and put it back into the microwave for 10 seconds. If 10 seconds is not enough to get it workable with your hands, try another 10 seconds. Pull it out and knead it really well. If it still seems too dry and not elastic enough, add a little more water and repeat the process.Trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04782835272188778110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7699152802076206942.post-83492395353807978882012-03-12T12:50:45.674-06:002012-03-12T12:50:45.674-06:00Hi Trish, I'm having problems with my fondant....Hi Trish, I'm having problems with my fondant.. I made 1 batch of MMF and add the green paste color while stirring the marshmallow..it came out fine when I was kneading it but after two days and checked it the MMF was a mess! It was tearing easily and I couldn't do anything about it anymore..also I added to the other half of MMF the red and the other black color and let it sit for 2 days but it turned out the same with the green one.. I made other colors like yellow and orange but it turned out fine and I was using it already to cover my decorations...
I followed the recipe but I used 1 1/2 tbsp of water and 1/2 tbsp of almond extract coz the green mmf will be the cover of the cake so I want it to taste good but it didn't turned out the way I want it to be..I'm so frustrated and stressed already coz the party is on friday...
Please help me...chelseahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05683863475425401648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7699152802076206942.post-88603118615681578932012-03-10T21:35:59.268-07:002012-03-10T21:35:59.268-07:00I'll keep that in mind..

First things first...forget about pe...Hi, Chelsea!
First things first...forget about people who might criticize your work. You are doing this out of love for your son. Have them make the cake next time if they have one negative word about it.

You should be able to cover your cake and have some left over for the letters and other decorations with just the one batch of MMF. The recipe makes a lot. I've always had some left over. If you need more, it's not a problem to make more. Also, look at my notes on the end of the Working with MMF post ( http://kidscakes.blogspot.com/2009/03/working-with-marshmallow-fondant.html ). I just knead the fondant for a long time (about 10 minutes) then let it rest in a owl on the counter covered with a towel.

The knobs and such can be molded whenever you want. You can mold those while your cake bakes or cools, etc. Or you can make them right when you need them. The MMF letters can be attached to the MMF on the cake by moistening the backs of the letters with a little bit of water (to act as a glue). Just wipe some water on the backs of the letters with your finger...only enough to wet it. Use the "less is more" theory.

If you run out of time one day and need to store your MMF, put it in a large ziplock bag with the air squeezed out of it. Pull it out the next day and let it come to room temperature. You can also microwave it if you're in a hurry, but do it in short spurts so it doesn't get too hot and scorch.

This guitar cake was decorated over a span of 2 days. Relax and enjoy it. The nice thing about being an amateur is that no one expects your cake to look like a professional made it. It takes a LOT of the pressure off. :)Trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04782835272188778110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7699152802076206942.post-49401449616245680122012-03-09T21:27:28.997-07:002012-03-09T21:27:28.997-07:00Hi! With making decorations out of MMF how far in advance should I do it and where to place it? I'm planning to do the letters out of it and place it on the side of the MMF cake just not sure if it will hold... I do appreciate your help... I'm getting so worried coz i have lots of things to prepare for my son's bday in just a week and too much pressure from the people that would criticize my work... The party was day three. I didn't freeze it or refrigerate it at all during that time.

To carve, you can just slice your way down the neck of the guitar and then slice the main section like you would any square or rectangular cake. I think we just had people choose parts of the guitar they wanted to eat and cut it up that way :)Trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04782835272188778110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7699152802076206942.post-62465959772102777702012-02-14T14:16:07.048-07:002012-02-14T14:16:07.048-07:00I'm going to try to make this cake this weeken...I'm going to try to make this cake this weekend!
